Year in school: junior major: history activities: studying, working. hobbies: watching television, reading, hanging out with friends do you think an on-campus pub would benefit the university community? no. down time is invaluable to a students life because it keeps our lives in balance. however, a school should be focused on learning and expanding a students mind through academic means and i do not think an on-campus pub would accomplish those goals. how do you feel about the current state of student politics at the university of oregon? i saddened by the lack of participation by the student body and i hope people will get more involved this election. your stranded on a deserted island with one person, who's it going to be and what are you drinking? theodore roosevelt, probably one of the coolest guys to become president and we're drinking coffee, which is something roosevelt drank in gallons and i adore. do you have any ideas about how to get the general student population more interested in the asuo? increased awareness of what exactly asuo does for oregon students every day and how they do it will, in my opinion, get more people interested in being involved. in 25 words or less, why should you be elected? i think, as a transfer student, i offer a unique perspective on the university campus that should be represented in student government. that there are not enough places to just chill on campus, and i think that a pub could be a positive thing for the university. all of the money students spend going to sakura to get crunked at lunch could go back to the u of o for cool stuff like research or scholarships. the more we drink, the more we save kind of thing. that said, i encourage everyone to drink responsibly, and call dds if you need a ride home. safety first. how do you feel about the current state of student politics at the university of oregon? i feel that when students look at campus politics, they can only see people arguing over petty things, officials who cannot maintain a level of professionalism during meetings, and people who are not responsive to the needs of the student body. there is a depressing lack of communication between the asuo government and the student population at large and it often does not feel like the asuo listens to people, or that they care to tell anyone what is going on in government. this perception of the student government as an elitist, group is totally harmful to the university. when all we can see is our elected government bickering and crying over funding issues, we tend to get mad and become apathetic, because these people don't seem to be listening to us anyway. but what needs to happen is an outreach from those people that are in-the-know about student government to the main student body. it needs to be made clear what is going on and why, and the government needs to let people know what is going on. i don't necessarily think that student politics are a total wreck and a sham at the uo, but they are definitely not accessible to the average student. your stranded on a deserted island with one person, who's it going to be and what are you drinking? your mom, and a triple of patron. just kidding, i drinking blue sapphire dry gin with newman's limeade. gin n' juice, like snoop. do you have any ideas about how to get the general student population more interested in the asuo? how about starting out by just listening to the general consensus of the student body? perhaps by extending an overview of what's what in government to the clamoring masses? when the asuo starts acting and presenting themselves like a professional student service organization, then people will feel like the university is in good hands. i don't mean to be hating on the asuo, but it has not been a good year for student politics in the campus media. i want people to see the student government become what it is intended to be- a group dedicated to making decisions for the good of the university and its students, faculty, and staff. all we can see right now is the off-color behavior and the hypocrisies. we need to be able to look at the future student government as a group we can trust to make decent long and short term decisions about our campus. we are all adults here, and do not need to resort to crying and name calling to get our points across. the way to clean up. E-greeting, e-card or e-vite sports - bumper. We conclude this section with a classical theorem due to scarf, which gives a sufficient condition for the nonemptiness of the core of ntu games similar to the one given in theorem 15.6 for tu games. however, unlike in the case of tu games, the condition given in scarf's theorem is not necessary for the nonemptiness of the core. formally, the core of an ntu cost-sharing game a, c ; is the collection of all cost allocations c a ; such that there is no nonempty coalition s a and cost allocation x c s ; for which xj j for all j s. note that this definition coincides with definition 15.3 in the case of a tu game. in the following theorem the support of a balanced collection of weights denotes the collection of all sets s with s 0. theorem 15.11 let a, c ; be a cost-sharing game with nontransferable utilities. assume for every balanced collection of weights and every vector x ra the following property holds: if for every set s in the support of , the restriction of x to the coordinates in s is then x c a ; then a, c ; has a nonempty core. the proof of the above theorem, which is beyond the scope of this chapter, uses an adaptation of the lemkehowson algorithm for computing nash equilibria described in section 3.4 of this book ; , and is considered an early and important contribution of the algorithmic viewpoint in game theory. however, the worst case running time of this algorithm like the lemkehowson algorithm ; is exponential in |a|. this is in contrast to the proof of the bondarevashapley theorem, which gives a polynomial-time algorithm2 for computing a point in the core of the game, if the core is nonempty. poker downloadsPhysicists are now more then ever involved in the study of complex systems which do not belong to the traditional realm of their science. finance options theory, . ; [1], human networks internet, airports, . ; [2], the dynamics of biological evolution [3, 4] and in general of competitive "agents" [5, 6, 7] are just a few examples of problems recently addressed by statistical physicists. however, many of these systems are not isolated and are thus sometimes very difficult to describe quantitatively: a financial model cannot predict the occurrence of wars or natural disasters which certainly affect financial markets, nor can it include the effect of all important external parameters china's gdp growth, german exports, google's profit. ; . rather, these studies try to capture important qualitative features which, interestingly, are sometimes universal. in this context, universality means that large scale aspects of the real system are properly reproduced by a simple model which only retains the main relevant ingredients of the original physics. adding further details to the model does not affect these universal properties. in the present work, we study a very human and playful activity: poker rules hands tournaments. although a priori governed by human laws bluff, prudence, aggressiveness. ; , we shall find that some of their interesting properties can be quantitatively described. one of the appealing aspects of a poker tournament lies in the obvious fact that it is a truly isolated system, which is not affected by any external phenomenon. two famous mathemati cians emile borel [8], and later john von neumann [9] ; contributed to the science of poker. however, they concentrated on head-to-head games, like their most recent followers [10], obtaining the best strategy in terms of the value of the hand and the pot. to our knowledge, the present work represents the first study of large scale poker tournaments. note however that in a recent work [6], the authors study head-to-head elimination tournaments involving seeded competitors, and apply successfully their theory to the us college basketball national. Lynn, "and we cultivated a vegetable garden for her, but we also fixed her fence, cleaned the gutters -- anything she needed. we help each other out here." "you know, i got letters from wen about that for three weeks, " said terry. "they took care of anything that went wrong. it's amazing how much that means to us in the field. i never had to worry." another of her neighbors, barry smith, kept the grass mowed and did repair work around the house. a red point resident for 12 years, smith looks at his support role as the least he can do to help, and says his neighbors feel the same. "the whole neighborhood watches out for each other, " he said. "i felt badly that he [terry] couldn't be here when his daughter was being born. if the roof blew off, we would have built her a new one." among picnic tables set with red, white and blue tablecloths overlooking the chesapeake, neighbors drifted in to wish the soldiers and their families well, and to once again promise unwavering support at home while the men are away.

First one of us that cleaned out the hog pen. there's a basic rule: who and whom are the relative pronouns for people; that and which are the relative pronouns for everything else. it's true that there's a progressive-type linguistic argument to be made for the thesis that the supposed "error" of using that with people is in fact the first phase of our language evolving past the who that distinction, since a universal that is simpler and would allow english to dispense with the whole subject-who-vs.object-whom thing. this sort of argument is interesting in theory; ignore it in practice. the truth is that, as of 2004, misusing that for who or whom, whether in writing or speech, functions as a kind of class marker--it's the grammatical equivalent of wearing nascar paraphernalia or liking pro wrestling. if you think this last assertion too snooty or extreme, please be informed that the hideous old ptl club's initials actually stood for "people that love." bonus factoid and suggestion: it so happens that you can occupy a bright child for most of a very quiet morning by challenging her to use that five times in a row in a single coherent sentence, to which stumper the solution is all about the present distinction: he said that that that that that writer used should really have been a which. you can up the challenge to six in a row if the kid is old enough to know about the medial-question-mark-in-sentence trick: he said that? that that that that that writer used should have been a which? ; dfw. |
